Week 1

Its is funny how things can change overnight and how similar some people can be. Not sure what I am talking about - then listen to this. Last week I posted (with some sadness) that we had not seen much progress and that an induction was scheduled for this Wednesday. Michele and I are planners and we had been planning to go to the hospital on June 5th to have our baby for 40 weeks. We have learned in the last 7 days that Cade is a lot like his parents. He too was planning to go to the hospital on June 5th. He really loves hanging out with his mom, so it took a good bit of coaxing to get him to let go of the uterus and come out to play. He arrived at 1:50am June 6th, wide-eyed and very attentive. This was undoubtably the crowning moment thus far in mine & Michele's life. There is nothing like that first moment when you look into your son's eyes and see your self and know that God has entrusted you to guide the life of another person. Over the past few days we have figured out a lot about our child. He likes to sleep during the day and stay up late like his mom, and he is very observant and craves physical contact like his dad. He is precious in one moment and screaming dirty diaper the next. I never knew that I would look forward to changing diapers and rushing to the crib at each wimper in the night. Michele is already a very good mother. She has excellent judgement (and I am learning to listen to her) and she cares for Cade like no one else. Parenting is a lot of work, but it is also so much fun. I can't wait to see what the future holds. Come see us if you can and meet Cade. He is awesome, you will see.
